The first part of November, Evan & I went to Hawaii with Evan's parents. I was looking forward to relaxing days on the beach reading 4 excellent books. (The Hunger Games being my favorite!) Evan was looking forward to a lot of golf. All of us enjoyed this trip of reading, shopping, exploring, golfing, and eating excellent food!
We started on the Big Island. Our hotel was on the dry side but we drove to the rainy side more than once. The first time to the rainy side we wanted to see some waterfalls, well we did and we got soaked!!

We then took some time out of our vacation to "work". We visited our tropical flower grower, Green Point Nurseries

That same day we went to "the Place of Refuge". It is a place that if you could run there before the authorities caught you, you would be safe and forgiven of your crime. Don't mind the messy hair and no make-up remeber this is after the waterfall wash out!.

Then we were able to meet up with my Aunt Lenny and her husband. They have a beautiful home overlooking the ocean and it sits on a golf course.

We ventured to the rainy side one more time to visit the volcano and see where the lava flows into the ocean. This was the most exciting part of the trip for me. I wanted to take a helicopter ride over the site, but I was vetoed due to the cost. So instead we hired a guy that said he could get us closer to the lava than anyone else because it flows on his family's land! So we paid him $30 to take us in his pickup truck through the jungle, (wild pigs running alongside us), out to the older lava flows. We then hiked on the older lava flows to the active flow. It was raining so all you can see is the steam. We occasionally got a glimpse of the orange glow of lava but I couldn't get it on the camera. The first picture is from where the state lets you view the lava flow. However our guide let us walk on top of the lava flow.It was a very exciting hike.

Then we flew to Maui and the golf-a-thon really got going. Evan and his dad golfed 36 holes for 4 days straight and 18 on the last day. They are crazy. Patty and I relaxed at the beach or the pool, we attended several yoga classes, took art tours, shopped the local stores, and picked out that nights restaurant.
Now that it is 10 degrees here at home, I am wishing we could live in Hawaii!
