New York New York

Evan & I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary by going (without children) to New York City! We went to see 3 Broadway shows... Chicago (my least favorite), Grease with Taylor Hicks (Evan's favorite) and Lion King (my favorite). Lion King is an amazing production with great costumes and set changes. Grease is just plain old fun. We didn't know much about Chicago before we went to see it. (Evan bought last minute discount tickets and that is how we decided what to see). Chicago doesn't have all of the dramatic sets and costumes like I was expecting from a Broadway show so it ended up being my least favorite. We took a city bus tour and ate at some fantastic restaurants! Those of you who know me well, know that I love to find great restaurants!
After spending a few days in NYC we took a stopover in Rochester to visit my friend Emily and her husband Jim and their new sweet baby Owen. It was great to spend time visiting with them.
We took an afternoon and visited Palmyra. It was great to tour the Joseph Smith farm and the sacred grove. Evan and I took our time in the sacred grove and explored most of it. We heard some thunder in the distance and decided to head back to our car. The sun was shining and we were in no hurry. We came to a meadow and heard a light rustling noise. We thought it was the wind picking up as the weather was changing but within seconds we were pelted with dime to quarter sized hailstones! You are supposed to stay on the path in the sacred grove but we ran for cover under a large tree. Needless to say we did get a little wet but it was a great experience anyway.
